High School
In hockey last night…
– Nick Voelker made 33 saves, as Calumet blanked Houghton 3-0. Sam Erkkila, Dean Loukus and Tanner Rowe scored for the Copper Kings.
– Hancock claimed the Great Lakes Conference title with a 5-2 victory over Marquette. The Bulldogs got goals from Teddy Perrault, Austin Salani, Alex Nordstrom, Petr Anderson and Tyler Turcotte.

Tonight, Calumet skates at Negaunee, in a game that was rescheduled from January 23rd.

In boys basketball last night…
– Hancock fell to Bessemer 70-32.
– Calumet overpowered L’Anse 71-37.
– Lake Linden-Hubbell lost to Wakefield-Marenisco 71-46. Carter Crouch scored 12 points for the Lakes.
– Dollar Bay-Tamarack City overwhelmed Baraga 83-29.
– Jeffers defeated Watersmeet 63-45.
– Ontonagon edged Chassell 58-56.
– Ewen-Trout Creek buried Watersmeet 71-33. Eli Nordine led the Panthers with 24 points, Jake Witt added 22 points and 14 rebounds, and Jaden Borseth scored 18 points.

In girls action…
– Hancock shut down Bessemer 51-24.
– Ewen-Trout Creek stopped Watersmeet 58-31.

Finlandia
The Finlandia women’s soccer team has introduced another incoming freshman. Victoria Quick is a goaltender from Eastlake, California.

MTU
Saturday is Econo Foods Day at Michigan Tech. Kids ages 14 and under can get free tickets that are good for the Huskies basketball games against Lake Superior State, and the hockey contest against Arizona State. 500 tickets will be available beginning at noon today at the Econo Foods service desk on a first-come, first-served basis, with a limit of five per customer.

NHL
Jimmy Howard made 32 saves, as the Detroit Red Wings edged the Anaheim Ducks 2-1 last night. Dylan Larkin and Frans Nielsen scored for Detroit. The Wings visit the Tampa Bay Lightning tomorrow. Pregame coverage begins at 7:10 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Detroit Pistons welcome the Atlanta Hawks tonight. Tip-off is at 7:00 on 99.3 The Lift.
