Here is the official proclamation of Hancock Bulldog Hockey Day in the City of Hancock:
CITY OF HANCOCK
MAYORAL PROCLAMATION
HANCOCK BULLDOG HOCKEY DAY
WHEREAS, The Hancock High School Boys Hockey Team, under the leadership of Coach Dan Rouleau, completed an exemplary 2015-2016 Hockey Season, and
WHEREAS, The team won the Great Lakes Conference Title, Won the MHSAA Division 3 Region 17 playoff against Houghton, won the quarterfinal playoff against Sault Ste. Marie, won the semifinal against Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook-Kingswood, and won the Division 3 Ice Hockey Championships against Grand Rapids Catholic Central on March 12, 2016 at the USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, and
WHEREAS, Hancock has a proud tradition of successful hockey, including winning the 1998-1999 Class B, C, and D Hockey State Championships, Multiple State Championships with the Laurn-Grove teams of the 1930’s, 1940’s, 1950’s and 1960’s, home of three Olympic hockey team members including a 1960 Olympic gold medal winner, and
WHEREAS, The Hancock High School Hockey Team exhibited hard work, team play, unparalleled hockey talent, tenacity, sportsmanship, class, energy, and commitment throughout the Hockey Season, and
WHEREAS, The Hancock High School Hockey Team, Coaching Staff, and supporters were truly ambassadors of Hancock throughout the State of Michigan, during the regular season and payoffs;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT I, Lisa McKenzie, Mayor of the City of Hancock, do hereby proclaim Monday, March 14, 2016, as HANCOCK BULLDOG HOCKEY DAY in the City of Hancock and further acknowledge the tremendous inspiration and pride that the Hancock High School Hockey Team has been to the City of Hancock and surrounding areas, and further congratulate the team and coaches for a fantastic championship season.
