In high school golf yesterday…
• The Hancock boys team placed second to Norway at the Division Two U.P. Finals at the George Young Recreational Complex in Iron River. Mason Mikesch was the Bulldogs’ top individual finisher, in fourth place. Iron Mountain won the girls meet. Hancock finished sixth, with Kami Klein 11th individually. See full boys results here. • The Division One finals will be played at Harris – the boys at Sweetwater, and the girls at Sage Run.
• The Division Three boys and girls finals will be played at The OC in Gladstone.
Calumet High School hockey standout Dean Loukus was selected by the Austin Bruins in the North American Hockey League supplemental draft yesterday. He was the 41st pick. The Bruins are a Tier II Junior team.
College Soccer
The Finlandia University women’s soccer team has added a new recruit. Oghosasse Osadiaye is a defender from Cadillac High School.

In Copper Country Slow Pitch Softball League play last night…
• Koppers defeated A and S Industrial/Loukus Tech 27-8. The result of the A and S game against Paul Hyrkas Construction was not reported.
• McGann’s/Northern Auto defeated Downtowner Two 10-3, and then downed Pat’s Foods/Buckos 22-3.

• Craig Heinonen Coldwell Banker meets REL-Mohawk Technology at 6:30 at the Hancock Driving Park.

• The 76ers dispatched the Wizards 129-112. Philadelphia wins that series 4-1.
• The Hawks shut down the Knicks 103-89. Atlanta takes that series 4-1.
• The Jazz outscored the Grizzlies 126-110. Utah claims that series 4-1.
• The Mavericks edged the Clippers 105-100. Dallas leads that set 3-2.

The Detroit Red Wings will have the sixth selection in the upcoming NHL draft. The Buffalo Sabres, who had the league’s worst record this season, won the first pick. The expansion Seattle Kraken will pick second.
MLB
Both the Detroit Tigers and the Milwaukee Brewers had last night off.
The Tigers begin a series against the White Sox in Chicago tonight. Casey Mize will start against Lance Lynn. Coverage begins at 7:50 on 99.3 The Lift.
The Brewers open a home set against the Arizona Diamondbacks this evening. Brett Anderson will pitch against Jon Duplantier.
Horseshoes
Week two of the Copper Country Horseshoe League wrapped up with L and L defeating Harter’s party store 8-1.
Fishing
This year’s Walleye Fishing Tournament will take place Saturday on Portage and Torch Lakes. Fishing will be open from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm. Boats can be launched at the Chassell Bay or Torch Lake launches. Check-in will be at the Dreamland Restaurant dock. The registration fee is $100 per boat, with a $20 side pot for biggest walleye. Tournament registration will take place Friday evening between 6:00 and 8:00 at the Chassell VFW.
Our high school spring sports broadcast schedule continues tomorrow. On 97.7 The Wolf, we’ll bring you the Division Three baseball district tournament from Houghton. Coverage will begin at 11:40, with Houghton against Iron Mountain in the first semifinal, and Calumet against Negaunee in the second. On KBear 102.3, we’ll air the Division Four softball district tournament from the Bone Yard. Coverage will begin at 10:40, with Lake Linden-Hubbell against Gogebic in the first semifinal, and Hancock against Ironwood in the second. We will also broadcast the championship games, if local teams advance.
