The Detroit Tigers’ makeover continued yesterday, as the team traded with the New York Yankees for left-handed reliever Justin Wilson. Wilson was 5-0 with a 3.10 ERA in 74 appearances this past season. In exchange, the Yankees get two pitching prospects – right-handers Luis Cessa and Chad Green. They were rated as Detroit’s sixth and 19th-best prospects.
The Tigers also signed former Texas Rangers’ infielder Tommy Field to a minor-league contract. Field can play second base, third base and shortstop, and will provide some depth as a utility player.
