High School
The Calumet High School volleyball team can resume practices as early as Monday.
The Copper Kings are one of 32 teams that were still alive in the state tournament when most high school athletic competition was halted by COVID-19 rules in November.
Yesterday, the Michigan High School Athletic Association released the timeline and procedures for completing that tournament. Participants will take part in the pilot rapid testing program that football players will begin today. Athletes and those associated with the team will be tested three times each week. All must test negative for COVID-19 before a team can begin practicing.
Volleyball quarterfinal games are scheduled to be played January 12th. Calumet is set to face Beaverton. Semifinals and finals will be staged January 14th through 16th at Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek.
