High School
In boys high school basketball last night…
- Houghton routed Hancock 77-19. Ten different Gremlins had at least one point. Unofficial scoring had freshman Terry Nolan leading the team with 22 points – all in the first half. Luke Hill added 14 – again, all in the first half. Ryan Froiland scored six for the Bulldogs, who started three freshmen on the varsity.

The Red Wings visit the Flyers tonight. Because of NFL football on 99.3 The Lift, Wings coverage will begin at 6:45 on KBear 102.3.
Cam Talbot will be back in goal for Detroit tonight, after missing time with a lower body injury. Sebastian Cossa has been sent back to Grand Rapids.

The Pistons visit the Celtics this evening.

MLB
The Tigers lost two prospects in yesterday’s Rule Five draft. Catcher Liam Hicks was taken by the Marlins. Infielder Gage Workman was selected by the Cubs.
The Brewers lost pitcher Shane Smith, who was taken by the White Sox with the first pick. They also added a pitcher, taking Connor Thomas from the Cardinals’ system.
Players taken in the Rule Five draft must be kept on the new team’s major league roster for the entire 2025 season, or offered back to their former club.
The Brewers also signed free agent pitcher Grant Wolfram to a major-league deal. He played for the Rangers’ top farm team last season.
