MLB

The Tigers had yesterday off, and host the Rays today. Tarik Skubal will pitch against Ryan Pepiot. Because of storms predicted in the Detroit area tonight, today’s game has been moved to this afternoon. Coverage will begin at 12:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

The top pitching prospect in minor league baseball will be joining the Tigers. Jackson Jobe is being called up. Jobe spent most of the season at Double-A Erie, and was promoted to Triple-A Toledo two weeks ago. Now, he’ll bring his power arm to Detroit, although it’s not clear what role he’ll fill.  To make room on the active roster, the Tigers designated Shelby Miller for assignment.

The Brewers also had yesterday off, and begin a series in Pittsburgh this evening. Tobias Myers will pitch against Bailey Falter.

Enoli Paredes is no longer a Brewer. The reliever was claimed off waivers by the Cubs yesterday. Paredes logged a 1.74 ERA in 17 relief appearances with Milwaukee, despite missing two months with an arm injury. He was designated for assignment when Kevin Herget was called up from Nashville.

NFL

In last night’s NFL contests…

  • The Bills shut down the Jaguars 47-10
  • The Commanders outscored the Bengals 38-33.

If you played The Wolf Pro Football Challenge, you must have selected at least nine games correctly to be eligible to become our weekly winner.

Sunday’s Lions victory was a costly one. Defensive end Marcus Davenport will miss the rest of the season with an elbow injury. Linebacker Derrick Barnes will miss what coach Dan Cambell termed a “significant amount of time” with a knee injury. He’s still being evaluated. The team got some good news about tight end Sam LaPorta, who left Sunday’s game with an ankle injury. It’s a low-grade sprain, and he should be back in a few weeks. Center Frank Ragnow suffered a partially torn pectoral muscle, and is considered week-to-week.
