Northern Michigan’s Dylan Kuehl has been honored as the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Offensive Basketball Player of the Week for the second time this season. Kuehl scored 40 in the Huskies’ wins over Davenport and and Grand Valley State last weekend.
Saturday is the annual Marketplace Foods Kids Day at Michigan Tech. Marketplace foods has purchased 500 youth tickets that can be used at the Huskies’ basketball games against Roosevelt University, and the hockey game against Lake Superior State. The tickets will be given away on a first-come, first-served basis at Marketplace Foods in Houghton, beginning this afternoon at 4. There is a limit of five free tickets per family. In addition, the first 100 kids at the basketball games, and the first 400 kids at the hockey game, will receive a free Vollwerth’s hot dog.

The Pistons overcame a big early deficit, and shaded the Trailblazers 118-115 last night. Malik Beasley sealed the win with two free throws, and a late steal. Cade Cunningham scored 32, and Jalen Duren had 14 points and 12 rebounds.

NFL
The Packers will finish the season without receiver Christian Watson. Watson tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee Sunday against the Bears. Rehab after surgery could extend into next season. Yesterday, coach Matt LaFleur said he thinks both quarterbacks will be ready for Sunday’s playoff game in Philadelphia. Jordan Love left Sunday’s game against the Bears with an elbow injury, and Malik Willis is nursing a sore thumb.
Interest in Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn and offensive coordinator Ben Johnson is ramping up. The Saints and Jets have officially asked Detroit for permission to talk with Glenn about their vacant head coaching position. The Bears have requested permission to talk with both, and have also asked the Cowboys for permission to talk with head coach Mike McCarthy. McCarthy was Green Bay’s head coach from 2006 to 2018.
