Finlandia
The two games that the Finlandia University softball team was supposed to play at Northland College this afternoon have been postponed because of the weather. No makeup date has been announced.

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings host Minnesota tomorrow night. Face-off is at 7:30 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

Red Wings LogoThe Wings’ playoff hopes took another hit last night, when Philadelphia defeated Washington in a shootout. That put the Flyers two points ahead of Detroit in the race for the final wild card berth, and Philadelphia still holds a game in hand. The Wings could also make the playoffs by finishing third in the Atlantic Division. They trail the Bruins by one point in that race.

As expected, Red Wings assistant coach Tony Granato was named the head coach at the University of Wisconsin yesterday. Granato will remain with Detroit until the end of the season.

NBA
The Detroit Pistons entertain the Mavericks tomorrow evening. With seven regular-season games remaining, the Pistons are in seventh place in the Eastern Conference – a half-game ahead of the Pacers. Eight teams make the playoffs.

MLB
In spring training baseball last night, Shane Greene pitched nearly six innings of shutout ball, as the Detroit Tigers edged the Baltimore Orioles 2-1. Greene gave up just three hits before leaving with two outs in the fifth inning. Two were bunt singles. He struck out nine. James McCann homered. The Tigers face the Yankees this afternoon. Hear the game at 1:00 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

Greene’s performance cemented his role as Detroit’s fifth starter, a position he also held at this time last year, before his season was derailed by injuries. Matt Boyd, who had also been hoping for that spot, has been optioned to Toledo.

Two days after having been released, pitcher Bobby Parnell and infielder Casey McGehee are back with the Tigers. They both agreed to minor-league deals yesterday, and will start the season with the Mud Hens.

The Milwaukee Brewers got past the Colorado Rockies 5-4 yesterday. Scooter Gennett homered. The Brewers face the Astros in Houston tonight.

The Calumet Wolverines and the Portage Lake Pioneers open pool play in the Great Lakes Hockey League Tournament in DePere tomorrow. The Pioneers face the Fox Cities Ice Dogs at 1:00; then take on the Wolverines at 7:00. The Wolverines will meet the Ice Dogs Saturday at noon. Hear their games on KBear 102.3 and KBear102.com.
