The Tigers’ run-scoring drought continued yesterday, with a 7-0 loss to the Braves. Detroit did threaten, rapping out seven hits off Atlanta starter Reynaldo López over the first five innings. López kept them off the board, though, and the Tigers managed just one more hit over the final four frames. Meanwhile, Tarik Skubal struggled again, torched for five runs on seven hits over four innings. The Tigers have scored just three runs in their last four games.

The Tigers have today off, and host the White Sox tomorrow night. Jack Flaherty will start against Erick Fedde. Coverage will begin at 6:15 on 99.3 The Lift.

With Alex Lange apparently out for the season, Detroit has signed reliever Eli Villalobos to a minor league deal. Villalobos made a few appearances with the Marlins before he was cut loose early in the season. It’s a minor league deal, and he’ll likely be assigned to Toledo.

Alex Faedo could be on his way back. He tossed a scoreless inning as he began a rehab assignment at Toledo last night. Faedo has missed two weeks with a hip injury.

Freddy Peralta tossed six shutout innings, as the Brewers blanked the Angels 2-0 last evening. Peralta allowed just three hits, and struck out eight. Rhys Hoskins’ sacrifice fly plated the only run Milwaukee would need in the first inning. Willy Adames singled home Christian Yelich with an insurance tally in the eighth.

The Brewers visit the Padres tonight. Bryse Wilson will pitch against Adam Mazur.

After nearly blowing a 6-0 lead in the ninth inning of Tuesday’s game, Milwaukee pitcher Elieser Hernández has been designated for assignment. Milwaukee also sent infielder Oliver Dunn down to Nashville. Infielder Tyler Black has been recalled from the Sounds, and pitcher Bradley Blalock has been summoned from Double-A Biloxi.

NHL

The Stanley Cup series continues tomorrow, as the Oilers host the Panthers. Florida leads the series 3-2.

The Red Wings have signed defenseman Albert Johansson to a one-year contract extension. Johansson was drafted by the Wings in 2019. He spent last season with Grand Rapids, but is expected to challenge for a roster spot in Detroit this fall.

NBA

Just a year after signing him to a mammoth six-year contract, the Pistons have fired coach Monty Williams. The one season he spent in the Motor City was the worst in team history. Owner Tom Gores will still owe Williams $65 million.

NFL

How quickly is the summer passing by? Detroit Lions rookies will report to training camp a month from today. Veterans will report three days later.
