In girls high school basketball tonight…

GLIAC LogoThe men’s and women’s basketball teams at Michigan Tech begin Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference play tonight when they host Malone. The women’s game tips off at 5:30, and the men’s contest at 7:30. The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will be collecting donations of new or gently used winter clothing at tonight’s games. Donations will be turned over to the Salvation Army.

The MTU volleyball team has received letters of intent from three new players for next season. Kristine Fink is an outside hitter and defensive specialist from Scarsdale, New York. MacAulay Petersen is an outside hitter from Paw Paw, Michigan. Emilia Widen is a middle blocker from Burnsville, Minnesota. Find out more about them here.

The Detroit Red Wings entertain the Arizona Coyotes this evening.

NBA
The Detroit Pistons overcame a 16-point deficit in the fourth quarter, and beat the Phoenix Suns 127-122 in overtime last night. Reggie Jackson scored 34 points and added 6 assists for Detroit. Andre Drummond, who had missed 34 free throws in his last three games, sank two shots from the line with 14 seconds remaining to force the extra period. The Pistons host the Milwaukee Bucks tomorrow night. Tip-off is at 7:30 on AM 400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

NFL
The Green Bay Packers visit the Detroit Lions in tonight’s NFL game. Kickoff is at 8:25 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

MLB
The Detroit Tigers have said goodbye to relievers Al Alburquerque and Neftali Feliz. Both were eligible for arbitration, and both were likely to have been granted raises, even after turning int the worst seasons in their careers. Detroit did extend contract offers to J.D. Martinez, Jose Iglesias and Andrew Romine before last night’s deadline.
