Michael Fulmer turned in another strong outing, as the Detroit Tigers shut down the New York Yankees 4-1 yesterday afternoon. Fulmer pitched six shutout innings, extending his scoreless streak to 28-1/3rd frames. Detroit scored single runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Ian Kinsler’s two-run homer in the seventh extended the lead. New York’s only run came off Justin Wilson in the eighth.

The Tigers open a three-game series in Chicago against the White Sox tonight. Matt Boyd will pitch against James Shields. Hear the first pitch at 8:10 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the New York Mets 5-3 yesterday. Zach Davies threw six shutout innings. He left the game after giving up a double and a single to lead off the seventh inning, and was charged with one run when one of those runners scored. Davies also had a hit, and drove in a run.

The Brewers begin a set at San Francisco tonight. Chase Anderson will pitch against Matt Cain.

Copper Country Women’s Fast Pitch Softball
In Copper Country Women’s Fast Pitch Softball play tonight, Northern Michigan Land Brokers will face Auto Pro Glass and Tire at 5:30, and Mattila Rock and Dock at 7:15. Both games will be played at the Boneyard in Lake Linden.

NHL
The Pittsburgh Penguins won the Stanley Cup last night, with a 3-1 victory over the San Jose Sharks. The Penguins took the championship series four games to two to win the Cup for the fourth time. Sidney Crosby won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the Most Valuable Player in the postseason.

NBA
The Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers will continue the NBA championship series tonight. The Warriors lead the set three games to one.
