WestPAC Volleyball All-Stars Named – Thursday Sports Wrap

High School

In high school volleyball tonight…
• Houghton plays at Kingsford.
• L’Anse entertains Ontonagon.
• Chassell travels to Watersmeet.

Calumet and Houghton dominate this year’s All-WestPAC volleyball team. Helen Beiring of the Copper Kings was named Player of the Year. Kaylie Halonen was tabbed as Defensive Specialist of the Year, and Kate Bonacorsi was honored as Coach of the Year.

Allie Bjorn, Laina Kareniemi and Jackie Kiilunen from Calumet were named to the First Team. They are joined by Houghton’s Jiani Tang, Meghan Trewhella and Stella Wickstrom, along with Isabella Hebert and Kaisa Salani from Hancock.

Carly Loukus and Kaitlyn Strom from the Copper Kings were placed on the Second Team, along with Brynn Arko and Laney Johnson of the Gremlins, and Brooke Koskela of the Bulldogs.

College Volleyball

The Finlandia University volleyball team wrapped up its season with a 3-0 loss at Northland College last night. The Lions finish with a record of 2-20.

NHL

The Red Wings visit the Bruins tonight. Because of NFL football on 99.3 The Lift, Wings coverage will begin at 6:45 on KBear 102.3.

NBA

The Pistons lost to the Hawks 118-113 last night. Bojan Bogdanovic scored 33 for Detroit, and Cade Cunningham added 26.

NFL

In tonight’s NFL contest, the Ravens visit the Buccaneers. Kickoff is at 8:15 on 99.3 The Lift.
