College Softball
The Finlandia University softball team swept its doubleheader against Maranatha Baptist yesterday, 15-3 and 15-1. In the first game, Harlie Caster gave up three runs on six hits. She also had two hits, and drove in two runs. Melanie Torres and Rheanna Bain each had three hits. Cassy Lopez drove in four runs with two hits. In the nightcap, Kyndall Coffman allowed a run on three hits. She had three hits herself, and drove in four runs. Bain had three hits, and drove in three runs. Both games ended after five innings because of the mercy rule.
The Lions will host Northland College for a doubleheader tomorrow. Coverage will begin at 1:40 on 99.3 The Lift and 993TheLift.com.
The Finlandia baseball team dropped two games at Wisconsin-Eau Claire yesterday, 2-0 and 18-8. The Lions collected seven hits in the opener, but couldn’t score. The two teams combined for 13 errors in the second contest.
Finlandia will play another doubleheader at Eau Claire today.
College Soccer
The Michigan Tech soccer match against Wisconsin-Parkside scheduled for last evening was canceled late yesterday. No reason was offered. As of this morning, the MTU website indicates that tomorrow’s home game against Purdue Northwest is still on the schedule. Parkside’s match at Northern Michigan University this afternoon is also still on the schedule.

The Detroit Red Wings entertain the Chicago Blackhawks tonight. Coverage begins at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
NBA
The Detroit Pistons defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 110-104 last night. Josh Jackson led Detroit with 29 points. Isaiah Stewart had 15 points and grabbed 21 rebounds.
The Pistons visit the Washington Wizards tonight.
MLB
The Detroit Tigers were held to just four singles in a 3-0 loss to the Oakland Athletics last night. José Ureña took the tough loss, giving up two runs on seven hits over seven innings. He struck out eight.
The Tigers continue that series in Oakland tonight. Casey Mize will pitch against Cole Irvin. We’ll join the game in progress after Red Wings hockey on 99.3 The Lift.
The Milwaukee Brewers collected only five hits in a 6-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates last night. Adrian Houser didn’t last through the fifth inning. He was charged with three runs, and took the loss.
The Brewers entertain the Pirates again this evening. Brett Anderson will start against Trevor Cahill.
Christian Yelich missed his fourth straight game because of back problems last night, but team officials say he’s making progress.
