Denia Bent gave up the other run, while closing the game in the seventh.

The Lions reached the finals by defeating SUNY-Delhi 10-4 and SUNY-Canton 11-9 on Saturday.

MLB
The Detroit Tigers lost 4-2 to the Kansas City Royals yesterday. Playing with a patchwork lineup because of injuries and illness, the Tigers still outhit the Royals 10-7. John Hicks homered. Matthew Boyd took the loss, giving up four runs over seven innings, but he was hurt by some sloppy defensive play.

The Tigers open a series at Texas tonight. Michael Fulmer will pitch against Matt Moore. Pregame coverage will begin at 7:40 on 99.3 The Lift.

Third baseman Jeimer Candelario missed yesterday’s game because of a jammed thumb. He’s considered day-to-day. Nicholas Castellanos was out with the flu. Tigers’ radio play-by-play announcer Dan Dickerson was also a casualty, sidelined by laryngitis. Royals’ broadcaster Steve Stewart filled in for him yesterday, and Matt Shepard of Fox Sports Detroit will cover tonight and tomorrow.

Tigers catcher Grayson Greiner made his major league debut, and singled in his first at-bat.

Chase Anderson struggled, as the Milwaukee Brewers lost to the Pittsburgh Pirates 9-0 yesterday. While Anderson was charged with five runs before leaving in the sixth inning, Brewers’ batters were collecting just two hits. It was the seventh shutout of the season for Milwaukee – one short of their total for all of last season.

The Brewers have today off, and host the Cleveland Indians tomorrow night. Wade Miley will pitch against Corey Kluber.
