FinnU Soccer Teams Qualify for ACAA Tourneys

Finlandia

The Finlandia University men’s soccer team lost 2-0 at Ripon College yesterday. Noah Raisanen had 12 saves, as the Red Hawks outshot the Lions 27-6.

Both Finlandia soccer teams have qualified for the American Collegiate Athletic Association playoffs. The men’ team will be seeded fourth, and will open against top-seed Wisconsin-Whitewater November 2nd in Hancock, New Hampshire. The women’s team is seeded second, and will face third-seed Mount Mary November 2nd in Santa Cruz, California.

NHL

The Detroit Red Wings skate at Calgary tonight. Because of NFL football, pregame coverage will begin at 8:40 on KBear 102.3.

NBA

The Detroit Pistons closed their NBA exhibition campaign with a 116-110 victory over the Charlotte Hornets last night. Langston Galloway scored 18 points, and Andre Drummond grabbed 15 rebounds. Detroit played without Blake Griffin, Derrick Rose, Reggie Jackson and Luke Kennard.

The Pistons open the regular season Wednesday at Indiana. Listen for selected Pistons regular-season games again this year on 99.3 The Lift.

MLB

Game four of the American League Championship Series between the Astros and Yankees was rained out last night. It will be made up tonight in New York. Houston leads the set two games to one.

NFL

The Lake Superior Performance Rally returns to the Copper Country tomorrow and Friday. It’s the final event in the American Rally Association national tour. Perennial powerhouse David Higgins has already wrapped up the season championship, but there’ll be a pitched battle for second place, with Piotr Fetela and Barry McKenna tied, and Oliver Solberg just a few points back. Teams will be reviewing the course segments in Houghton and Baraga Counties today. You can see the cars and meet the drivers tomorrow at 2:00 at the Country Inn and Suites in Houghton, or Saturday at 9:00 at L’Anse Waterfront Park.
