FinnU Men’s, Women’s Soccer Teams Blank Eureka – Monday Sports Wrap

Finlandia

The Finlandia University women’s soccer team routed Eureka College 8-0 yesterday. Addie Budzinski earned a hat trick, and Kirsten L’Esperance and Dasia Knowles each scored twice.

The Finlandia men’s soccer team cruised past Eureka College 6-0 yesterday. Akwasi Kwarteng scored twice for the Lions.

MLB

The Detroit Tigers blasted four home runs, and defeated the Chicago White Sox 6-3 yesterday. Jeimer Candelario, Gordon Beckham, and Victor Reyes went deep, and Willi Castro hit his first major league homer. Matthew Boyd gave up three runs over five innings to get the win.

The Tigers have today off, and host the Minnesota Twins tomorrow night. Spencer Turnbull will pitch against Jake Odorizzi. Pregame coverage begins at 6:15 on 99.3 The Lift. 

The Milwaukee Brewers completed a sweep of their weekend series against the Pittsburgh Pirates with a 4-3 victory yesterday. Eric Thames hit two home runs, and Orlando Arcia added one. Freddy Peralta gave up all three Pittsburgh runs in the eighth inning.

The Brewers also have tonight off, and open a series in Cincinnati tomorrow. Adrian Houser will start against Sonny Gray.

The Cardinals defeated the Cubs, and continue to lead Milwaukee by three games in the National League Central Division. The Nationals lost, so Washington and Milwaukee are tied for the two wild card playoff berths.

NHL

The Detroit Red Wings edged the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-2 in overtime in a preseason contest yesterday. Tyler Bertuzzi and Anthony Mantha scored in regulation, and Madison Bowey netted the game-winner.

The Wings visit the New York Islanders tonight.

NFL

The Green Bay Packers defeated the Denver Broncos 27-16 yesterday. Aaron Jones ran for two touchdowns.

The Detroit Lions took a 10-point halftime lead, and held off the Philadelphia Eagles 27-24 yesterday. The Eagles out-rushed and out-passed the Lions, but Detroit took advantage of two Philly turnovers, and a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Jamal Agnew.

In last night’s contest, the Los Angeles Rams got past the Cleveland Browns 20-13.

Tonight, the Chicago Bears visit the Washington Redskins. Hear the broadcast on 99.3 The Lift.

The Calumet Wolverines play the Portage Lake Pioneers tomorrow at the Colosseum. Pregame coverage starts at 7:45 on KBear 102.3 and KBear102.com.
