Finlandia
The Finlandia University men’s soccer team fell 2-1 to Webster University last night. Glodie Kanjia scored the Lions’ only goal early in the second half. Patrick Miles took the loss in net.

The result of Finlandia’s volleyball match against Gogebic Community College last night was not reported.

MTU
Two Michigan Tech players have been honored by the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. Mark Auk was named Defensive Player of the Week, and Justin Misiak Rookie of the Week for their play as the Huskies won the Icebreaker Tournament in Duluth.

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings skate at Dallas tonight. Face-off is at 8:30 on 99.3 The Lift.

NBA
The Detroit Pistons defeated the Indiana Pacers 107-97 last night. Both teams relied heavily on reserves. Detroit point guard Reggie Jackson saw his first action of the fall, and scored 14 points in 26 minutes. The Pistons continue their preseason Friday in Milwaukee. We’ll broadcast selected Pistons regular-season games on 99.3 The Lift.

MLB
In the American League Divisional Playoff Series yesterday, Houston advanced with a 5-4 victory over Boston. Former Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander got the win in relief. The Astros won the series 3-1. The Yankees defeated the Indians 7-3 to tie that series at 2-2.

In the National League, the Dodgers advanced with a 3-1 win over the Diamondbacks. L-A swept that series 3-0. The Cubs edged the Nationals 2-1, and lead their series 2-1. Game four of that series will be played today.

NFL
In last night’s game, Kai Forbath’s field goal with 12 seconds remaining lifted the Minnesota Vikings to a 20-17 victory over the Chicago Bears. The kick was set up when Minnesota’s Harrison Smith intercepted a Mitchell Trubisky pass deep in Chicago territory. The Detroit Lions have released defensive end Armonty Bryant. Bryant had just concluded a suspension for his third violation of the NFL substance abuse policy.
