Finlandia

Akwasi Kwarteng scored a hat trick as the Finlandia University men’s soccer team defeated Crown College 3-1 yesterday. Noah Raisanen made nine saves. The Lions complete their regular season with a record of 4-11-1. They will face Wisconsin-Whitewater in the opening round of the American Collegiate Athletic Association tournament November 2nd in Hancock, New Hampshire.

GLIAC

Michigan Tech’s Olivia Ghormley has been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference North Division Volleyball Player of the Week for the second straight week. Ghormley led the Huskies to their first-ever sweep at the Midwest Region Crossover Tournament. She and teammate Laura De Marchi were named to the Crossover All-Tournament Team.

NHL

The Detroit Red Wings host the Vancouver Canucks tonight. Pregame coverage begins at 7:10 on 99.3 The Lift.

NBA

Christian Wood won the final spot on the Detroit Pistons roster yesterday. The team waived veteran Joe Johnson

The Houston Astros will host the Washington Nationals in game one of the World Series tonight.

NFL

Ski Tigers

The Copper Country Ski Tigers will hold an informational meeting tonight for 11 to 18-year-olds who are considering joining their Competition Team, Development Team or the Adventure Group. This meeting is for families of new, returning, and interested skiers. It starts at 6:30 at the Nara Chalet.

Our high school football coverage continues this weekend with three big games. On Friday, Calumet hosts L’Anse on KBear 102.3 and KBear102.com. Hancock entertains Houghton in the Copper Bowl game on 99.3 the Lift and 993TheLift.com. On Saturday, Lake Linden-Hubbell will try to clinch a playoff berth at home against Manistique on KBear 102.3 and KBear102.com.
