Finlandia
The Finlandia University men’s basketball team couldn’t overcome a cold start, and lost 64-55 to Northland College last night. The Lumberjacks scored the first nine points of the game, and never trailed, although the Lions closed the gap to one point midway through the second half. Dylan Underwood led Finlandia with 17 points. Austin Carlson grabbed 13 rebounds.
MTU
The Michigan Tech volleyball team opens the NCAA Division II national tournament tonight. The fifth-seeded Huskies will face fourth-seed Lewis University at 8:30. The game will be played at Drury University in Springfield, Missouri.
The MTU soccer team has introduced three new recruits. All are from Michigan. Neve Badalow is a defender and midfielder from Marian High School in Bloomfield Hills. Cassie Bonifas is a defender from Pinckney High School. Gracie VanLangevelde is a goalkeeper from Spring Lake High School.
NBA
Reggie Bullock’s jump shot at the buzzer lifted the Detroit Pistons to a 106-104 victory over the Toronto Raptors last night. The shot capped a comeback from a 19-point deficit in coach Dwayne Casey’s return to Scotiabank Arena. Blake Griffin scored 30 for Detroit, and Andre Drummond collected 14 rebounds. The Pistons will entertain the Cleveland Cavaliers Monday night.
