MLB – Tigers
The Detroit Tigers recorded their second straight shutout last night, as they blanked the Cincinnati Reds 6-0. Anibal Sanchez gave up just two hits in the complete-game effort. He retired the final 16 batters he faced, and has not allowed a run in his last 20-2/3rds innings. J.D. Martinez homered, and Miguel Cabrera drove in two runs with a double.

The Tigers host the Reds again tonight. Kyle Ryan will pitch against Michael Lorenzen. Hear the first pitch at 7:08 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.

Reliever Bruce Rondon has been activated from the disabled list, but won’t be joining the Tigers. After struggling in his rehab starts with Toledo, he’s been optioned to the Mud Hens.

The Kansas City Royals scored three runs in the first inning, and cruised past the Milwaukee Brewers 8-5 last night. Kyle Lohse took the loss, giving up five runs over five innings. Jonathan Lucroy drove in three runs for Milwaukee.

The Brewers host the Royals again tonight. Matt Garza will start against Chris Young.

Carlos Gomez missed last night’s game, and will likely miss at least several more. Milwaukee manager Craig Counsell says Gomez is again experiencing trouble with his left leg – something that’s been bothering him all season.
