NFL
In the NFL yesterday, Mason Crosby’s field goal with three seconds remaining lifted the Green Bay Packers to a 23-20 victory over the Detroit Lions. The Packers overcame an awful first half, which left them down 17-3 at the break. In the second half, Aaron Rodgers threw touchdown passes to Davante Adams and Allen Lazard. With the score tied, and 1:49 remaining, Rodgers threw an interception. The Lions went three-and-out, though, and were forced to punt. Rodgers used the final 1:20 to move the Pack 53 yards, and set up the winning kick.
The victory earned the Packers an opening-round bye in the playoffs. The loss placed the Lions third in the 2020 amateur draft, behind Cincinnati and Washington.
In last night‘s contest, the San Francisco 49ers got past the Seattle Seahawks 26-21.
The playoffs begin Saturday. Buffalo plays at Houston at 4:45, and Tennessee visits New England at 8:15. On Sunday, Minnesota plays at New Orleans at 1:05, and Seattle kicks off at Philadelphia at 4:40.
