Finlandia
The Finlandia University volleyball team defeated Northland College 3-1 (25-18, 25-13, 18-25, 25-15) last night at the Paavo Nurmi Center. Marina Dalton and Natalia Vazquez each had a dozen kills for the Lions.

MLB
The Detroit Tigers and Minnesota Twins made it to the third inning last night, before heavy rains forced umpires to cancel the game. The contest will be made up as part of a day-night doubleheader today. In the afternoon game, Anibal Sanchez will face Pat Dean. Hear the first pitch at 2:10 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY. The evening game will start at 8:10. Justin Verlander will start against Ervin Santana.

The Indians won, so their magic number for clinching the American League Central Division title falls to five. Baltimore lost, so the Tigers are one game back in the race for the final American League wild card berth.

The Milwaukee Brewers lost to the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-1 last night. Pittsburgh got off to a quick start by scoring three times off Jimmy Nelson in the first inning.

The Brewers and Pirates wrap up that series tonight. Chase Anderson will pitch against Ryan Vogelsong.

NFL

The Detroit Lions have placed running back Ameer Abdullah on the Reserve/Injured list because of the foot injury he suffered last week. He underwent surgery, but may be able to return late in the season. The Lions bolstered their receiving corps by signing free agent Aaron Dobson, who played the past three seasons with the Patriots.
