Former Milwaukee reliever Tyson Miller is now a Dodger. Los Angeles purchased Miller’s contract after Milwaukee waived him last week.

Fast Pitch Softball

In Copper Country Fast Pitch Softball League play last night…
• Superior National Bank defeated Superior Service 7 to 1. Larissa Anderson was the winning pitcher. Bekka Pelli had a triple, and Rienna Luoma had a double and a single for SNB. Josie Connors and Molly Bugni each had a double for Superior Service.
• JB’s got past Tervo Agency 7-5.
• REL outscored Gold Standard 12 to 11. Emily Tervo was the winning pitcher. Emily Peterson had a home run, a double and a single for REL, Ashley Lehto had a triple and a single, and D’Andra Kero had a double and a single. For Gold Standard, Lena Myhren had 2 doubles and a single, Kara Kinnunen had four singles and Jada Guilbault had a double.

Slow Pitch Softball

In Copper Country Slow Pitch Softball League action last evening…
• Amy J’s v Superior Lube, then v Downtowner Two – no report.
• A and S Industrial/Loukus Tech fell to Auto Pro/Thermoanalytics 21-16, then lost to McGann’s/Northern Auto 4-3.

Twilight League

In Copper Country Twilight Baseball League play tonight…
• Northern Driveline faces Craig Heinonen Coldwell Banker at the Hancock Driving Park.
• Garnet Garage meets Houghton Building Supply – Stanton at the Stanton field.

NHL

The Red Wings have signed their top choice from the recent NHL draft. Center Nate Danielson has inked a three-year, entry-level contract.

Michigan Tech

Robert Young has been promoted to head coach of the Michigan Tech Track and Field Program. Young has spent the previous two seasons as an assistant for track and cross country. He will also continue in his role as cross country assistant under head coach Kristina Owen. Owen, who had been doing double duty as head track and field coach, will continue with that program as an assistant under Young.
