• Auto Pro/Thermoanalytics defeated Koppers 23-6.
• Koppers v Amy J’s – no report.
• A and S Industrial/Loukus Tech v Pat’s Foods/Bucko’s – no report.
• A and S Industrial/Loukus Tech v Sayen’s Auto/Coca Cola – no report.

Fast Pitch Softball

In Copper Country Fast Pitch Softball play last night…
• Superior National Bank defeated Superior Service 8-4. Elisa Isaacson was the winning pitcher – she struck out seven batters. Larissa Anderson led Superior National Bank at the plate with two singles. For Superior Service, Milly Loukus had double and a single, Raili Therrian and Isabelle Cleary each had a double and Rena Kangas and Allia Heinonen each had two singles.
• JB’s scored eight runs in the bottom of the first inning, and cruised past Superior Service 11-1. Stella Soumis was the winning pitcher, with five strikeouts. Sadie Biekkola and Quinn Donnely each had two singles for JB’s.
• Crush shut down Northern Michigan Land Brokers 21-2. Olivia Shank was the winning pitcher with six strikeouts. Becca Lyons had four singles for Crush, and Keirstyn Codere added three singles. For Northern Michigan Land Brokers, Blaire Impola had three singles.
• REL dispatched Tervo Agency 18-3. Vera Peterson was the winning pitcher. At the plate for REL, Hannah Impola had a double and three singles, and Morgan Erkkila and Vera Peterson each had a double and a single. For Tervo Agency, Alana Nolan had a home run and a single.

Twilight League Baseball

In Copper Country Twilight League baseball this evening…
• Garnet Garage takes on Craig Heinonen Coldwell Banker at the Hancock Driving Park.
• Houghton Building Supply-Stanton faces Northern Driveline at the Stanton Field.

MLB

The Major League All-Star Game will be played tonight at Dodger Stadium.

Neither the Tigers nor the Brewers have a starter in the game. The Tigers will be represented by reliever Gregory Soto, and by legacy honoree Miguel Cabrera. The Brewers will be represented by pitcher Corbin Burnes, who will not play because of health issues; reliever Josh Hader, who will miss the game because he’s on the bereavement list; and reliever Devin Williams.

The Tigers resume play Thursday with a doubleheader at Oakland.

The Brewers return to the field Friday, when they host the Rockies.

NHL

The Detroit Red Wings’ coaching staff rebuild continues. The latest addition is Jay Varady, who will be an assistant to new head coach Derek Lalonde. Varady comes from the Arizona Coyotes organization, where he was head coach of their American Hockey League farm team in Tucson.

Horseshoes

In Copper Country Horseshoe League play last evening…
• Dreamland One downed Rocky’s Bar 7-2.
• Calumet Electronics edged Buckos Party Store 5-4.
• Harter’s Party Store slipped past Dreamland Two 5-4.
• Ahmeek Fire Department stopped Drift Inn 7-2.
• Calumet One outscored L and L 6-3.
• 41 Lumber defeated Loading Zone 8-1.
