Ewen-Trout Creek Wins Volleyball District Title – Friday Sports Wrap

High School

In high school volleyball tournament district finals…

  • In Division Two – Kingsford swept Escanaba 3-0. The Flivvers will face Kingsley in a regional semifinal Tuesday.
  • In Division Three, Calumet hosts Ironwood tonight at 6:00. Coverage will begin at 5:40 on the Voice of the Copper Kings, KBear 102.3. 
  • In Division Four, District 98, Hancock will play at Lake Linden-Hubbell tonight at 6:00.
  • In Division Four, District 97 Ewen-Trout Creek dispatched Wakefield-Marenisco 3-1. The Panthers will play the winner of tonight’s Hancock-Lake Linden game Tuesday at Houghton High School.

  • In Division Seven, Menominee hosts Traverse City St. Francis for a district title tomorrow.
  • In Division Eight, Iron Mountain entertains East Jordan for a district crown tomorrow.
  • In Eight-Player Division One, Ishpeming plays at Pickford for a regional title tomorrow.
  • In Eight-Player Division Two, Forest Park entertains North Central tonight. Listen to the game on WIKB here.

College Soccer

The Michigan Tech soccer team fell 2-1 to Saginaw Valley State yesterday. Emilie Clayton scored Tech’s goal. The Huskies close the regular season with a match at 17th-ranked Grand Valley State tomorrow afternoon.

Northern Michigan women’s team battled Grand Valley to a 1-1 tie yesterday. The Wildcats will play at Saginaw Valley tomorrow.

College Hockey

The MTU hockey team travels to Big Rapids for games against Ferris State tonight and tomorrow.

The NMU hockey squad hosts Lake Superior State tonight and tomorrow.

College Basketball

The Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan basketball teams open their seasons at the JustAGame Crossover at Wisconsin Dells today. 

  • The Tech women will face Lewis at 2:00, and the men will take on Missouri-St. Louis at 4:00.
  • The Northern women will play Thomas More at 6:00, and the men will face Marysville at 8:00.

College Volleyball

The Michigan Tech volleyball team plays at Davenport University tonight, and Grand Valley State tomorrow.

The Northern volleyball squad plays at Grand Valley tonight, and Davenport tomorrow.

College Football

The Michigan Tech football team entertains Grand Valley State tomorrow at noon.

The Northern Michigan football team plays at Davenport University.

NHL

The Red Wings play at Toronto tonight. Coverage will start at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

NBA

The Pistons welcome the Hawks this evening.

NFL

In last night’s NFL contest, the Ravens shaded the Bengals 35-34. Baltimore came from behind as LaMar Jackson threw three fourth-quarter touchdown passes. Cincinnati had a chance to win the game when they scored a touchdown in the final minute, but their two-point conversion attempt failed.

The Lions visit the Texans for the Sunday night game, with the broadcast on 99.3 The Lift.

The Packers have this weekend off.

Youth Hockey

The Copper Country Junior Hockey Association’s November Gale 10U hockey tournament begins today, with games at Dee Stadium and the HoCo. Check the schedule and results here.
