High School

Ewen-Trout Creek won a boys Division Four regional basketball title last night, defeating North Central 56-44. Eric Abramson scored 31 for the Panthers, who opened up a big early lead, then held off a late Jets charge. Ewen-Trout Creek will play Rudyard in the quarterfinals Tuesday. The site for the game has not yet been announced.

The Baraga girls basketball team will face Fowler in the Division Four state semifinals this afternoon. The Vikings bring a record of 23-1 into the game. Their only loss was to Division Two Houghton. The defending state champions lost to Division Two defending champion Portland, and fell twice during the regular season to Portland Saint Patrick, which was undefeated until Fowler turned the tables with a 50-41 victory in the district championship game. Today’s tipoff is at 5:30 at the Breslin Center in East Lansing. Lenawee Christian and Plymouth Christian will play in the other Division Four semifinal.
