MLB

Victor Reyes had three hits, as the Tigers got past the Blue Jays 4-2 last evening. Converted reliever Brayan Garcia pitched into the fourth inning, and gave up both Toronto runs. Five relievers combined to allow just one hit, as Detroit came back to earn the win.

The Tigers visit the Blue Jays again this afternoon. Drew Hutchison will start against Ross Stripling. Coverage begins at 2:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Brewers shut down the Red Sox 4-1 last night. Brandon Woodruff earned the win, pitching into the seventh, giving up a run, and striking out nine. Christian Yelich had two hits, and Willy Adames added three. Each drove in a run.

The Brewers play in Boston again this afternoon. Eric Lauer will start against Nick Pivetta.

College Soccer

The Finlandia University men’s soccer team has added a new player. Abdul Kabbany is from Woodbridge, Virginia, where he was captain of his team at Potomac Senior High School.

College Basketball

The Finlandia men’s basketball team will enjoy the comforts of home a few more times this season. The Lions, who played just four games at the Paavo Nurmi Center last season, will get home court advantage eight times this year. After a couple of exhibition contests, Finlandia will open the campaign at home against Beloit November 11. See the full schedule here.

The Lions return four of last season’s top six scorers. They also add local standouts Davin Hill from Dollar Bay-Tamarack City, and Johnny Schutz from Jeffers.
