In Copper Country Women’s Fast Pitch Softball League action last night…
• Crush/Diamond House/Baby E’s clinched the league title with an 11-0 victory over Tervo Agency. Emily Jokela had two singles and a double for Crush. Kierstyn Codere added a double and a triple, and Sarah Audette had two singles.
• JBs Sales and Service scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to claim a 9-8 victory over Superior National Bank. Quinn Donnelly drove home Emily Scholie with the winning run. The rally came after SNB had scored twice to take the lead in the top of the seventh.
Slow Pitch Softball

• Sayen’s Auto/Coca Cola scored seven runs in the seventh inning to earn a 13-10 win over Downtowner Two.

• Garnet Garage faces Craig Heinonen Coldwell Banker at the Hancock Driving Park.
Little League
The Portage Lake Little League Majors team is asking for donations to help cover the cost of their trip to the state tournament. You can contribute through their GoFundMe page here. The tournament is being held in Grosse Pointe Farms. Portage Lake will begin pool play Saturday at 12:45 against Edwardsburg. The championship game will be played a week from today.
College Skiing
The Michigan Tech Nordic ski teams have introduced their new recruits. Seven men and four women will join the team this season. The incoming class is represented by student-athletes from Minnesota, Utah, Oregon, Switzerland, France, Canada, Norway, and Finland. Read about them here.
NBA
The Bucks evened up the NBA championship series with a 109-103 victory over the Suns last night. Giannis Antetokounmpo led Milwaukee with 26 points and 14 rebounds. Game five will be played Saturday night in Phoenix.
MLB
The Detroit Tigers and Milwaukee Brewers return from the All-Star break tomorrow.
The Tigers will resume their season with a home day-night doubleheader against the Minnesota Twins. Coverage of the first game will start at 1:50 on 99.3 The Lift. Coverage of the second contest will start at 6:50.
The Brewers will host the Cincinnati Reds.
Fishing
The Calumet-Keweenaw Sportsmen’s Club is hosting its annual Free Kids Fishing Derby Saturday at Swedetown pond. Kids can fish from 9:30 until noon, and then enjoy lunch as prizes are handed out. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. A few rods and reels are available, but attendees are encouraged to bring their own. Free bait will be provided.
