MLB
The Padres scored three runs of Gregory Soto and Jason Foley in the top of the 10th inning, and held on to defeat the Tigers 6-4 last night. San Diego built an early lead with three runs off Garrett Hill in the third inning. Detroit came back, with a two-run Jeimer Candelario homer in the seventh, and an RBI single by Riley Greene in the bottom of the ninth that forced the extra inning. The Tigers plated a run in the bottom of the 10th on a Candelario double, but couldn’t complete another comeback.
The Tigers host the Padres again this afternoon. Tarik Skubal will start against Yu Darvish. Coverage begins at 12:50 on 99.3 The Lift.
Pitcher Daniel Norris is back with the Tigers. Norris was in his seventh season in Detroit when he was traded to the Brewers last July. He struggled in Milwaukee, and was recently released by the Cubs. It’s a minor league deal, and he’ll be assigned to Toledo.
Luis Urías’ sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth lifted the Brewers to a 7-6 win over the Twins last night. Hunter Renfroe’s three-run homer in the second inning helped stake the Crew to an early lead, but the Twins crawled back against Ethan Small and Trevor Gott, and the game was tied at the end of the fifth. Four Milwaukee relievers held Minnesota to just one hit over the rest of the game.
The Brewers host the Twins again this afternoon. Corbin Burnes will start against Chris Archer.
