The Detroit Tigers had yesterday off, and return home to host the Houston Astros tonight. Matt Boyd will pitch against Collin McHugh. Hear the first pitch at 7:10 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

The Milwaukee Brewers scored three runs in the sixth inning, and defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-4 last night. Zach Davies got off to a shaky start for Milwaukee, giving up two runs in the first inning. He settled in, and didn’t allow another run until he left the game in the seventh. By that time, the Brewers had come back, with help from an Hernan Perez homer in the third, and a two-run double by Keon Broxton in the sixth. Kirk Nieuwenhuis added an insurance run with a solo homer in the eighth.

The Brewers entertain the Pittsburgh Pirates tonight. Junior Guerra will pitch against Steven Brault.

Twilight League
Twilight League– Wolverine-Orbit closed out the regular Twilight League baseball season last night with a 10-2 victory over Superior National Bank-Stanton. Hans Stimac pitched a complete game for Wolverine, and gave up just four hits. Mike Saari had four hits, including a home run, for Wolverine, and drove in three runs.
– Pat’s Foods-Mosquito Inn advanced to the Twilight League semifinals by defeating the Copper Country Miners 6-2 in the play-in game last night. Robert Brooks was the winning pitcher for Pat’s, and Justin Kirby closed the game. Al Nettell had two hits.

NFL
The Detroit Lions confirmed yesterday that they have signed veteran receiver Anquan Boldin to a one-year deal worth more than three million dollars. Boldin is 36 years old, but still led the 49ers in receptions, yardage and receiving touchdowns last season.

Fishing
There are a couple of fishing tournaments in the Keweenaw tomorrow.
– The Copper Country Walleye Association’s Angler and Young Angler tourney will be held on the waters of Portage and Torch Lakes. Participants must meet at the Chassell VFW Post for breakfast and a rules meeting tomorrow at 7:00. Fishing will be open from 8:30 until 2:30. The awards ceremony and a barbecue will follow. For more details, click here.
– The 17th Annual Baraga County Eagles Women’s Fishing Tournament will be held on Keweenaw Bay. Participants must register at the rules meeting on tonight at 5:00 at the Eagles Club in L’Anse. Rules will be provided at that time. The cost is $20.00 per participant, with up to four women allowed per boat.
