COVID-19 Forces NMU Hockey Cancellations – Tuesday Sports Wrap

WCHA

Northern Michigan University has canceled its first six hockey games of the season. Officials say the decision came as a result of COVID-19 testing. Privacy concerns prevented them from being more specific.

The cancellations include tomorrow night’s season opener against Lake Superior State University, this weekend’s contests against Michigan Tech, another game against LSSU next Wednesday, and their home series against Bemidji State University December 4th and 5th. The only match likely to be rescheduled is the December 2nd game against the Lakers, which was set to be the Wildcats’ first Western Collegiate Hockey Association contest of the season. The rest of the games were non-conference.

Minnesota State University’s hockey team is also off the ice. Positive COVID-19 tests forced them to cancel last night’s contest against Bemidji State, and upcoming games are on hold until contact tracing is completed.

NFL

Matt Gay’s 40-yard field goal with 2:40 remaining in the game lifted the Rams to a 27-24 victory over the Buccaneers in last night’s NFL game. A final Tampa Bay drive ended when Tom Brady threw his second interception of the night.

Gay connected on two of three field goal attempts and three extra points in his first game for L-A. He did it against the team that cut him earlier this fall. Gay was added to the Rams’ roster last week, after Kai Forbath was placed on the injured list.
