Copper Kings, Wolverines Earn Hockey Wins – Sunday Sports Wrap

High School
In high school hockey last night, Calumet edged Marquette 3-2.

GLHL
Rory Anderson scored the game-winner, as the Calumet Wolverines edged the Portage Lake Pioneers 3-2 last night at the Dee. After sweeping the Pioneers this weekend, the Wolverines are now 7-0.

NHL
Patrice Bergeron scored twice in the third period, as the Boston Bruins defeated the Detroit Red Wings 3-1 yesterday afternoon. Frans Nielsen netted Detroit’s only goal.  Jimmy Howard stopped 23 of 25 shots. The Wings visit the New Jersey Devils Wednesday. Coverage begins at 6:40 on 99.3 The Lift.

NBA
The Detroit Pistons entertain the Indiana Pacers Tuesday night. Tip-off is at 7:00 on 99.3 The Lift.

NFL
The Green Bay Packers were shut out by the Minnesota Vikings 16-0 last evening. Brett Hundley completed just 17 of 40 passes for 130 yards and two interceptions. He was hurt by several drops, and a rash of Packers’ injuries. Tackle Jason Spriggs, receiver Jordy Nelson, tight end Richard Rodgers and running back Aaron Jones all left the game hurt.

The Detroit Lions visit the Cincinnati Bengals for a 1:00 game today on 99.3 The Lift. The Lions need to win both their remaining games, and get losses from key competitors, to reach the playoffs.

Our high school hockey coverage continues Wednesday, with the opening games of the MacInnes Holiday Tournament. Houghton faces Howell at 6:00, and Hancock takes on Calumet at 8:00.
