MLB
The Detroit Tigers committed three errors in a 4-3 loss to the Kansas City Royals last night. Francisco Liriano gave up all four runs over six innings, but three were unearned. Nicholas Castellanos drove in two runs with a pair of doubles.

The Tigers host the Royals again tonight. Jordan Zimmermann will start against Jakob Junis. Pregame coverage will begin at 5:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

Detroit designated hitter Victor Martinez says today’s game will be his last. The team plans to honor Martinez before the contest. He’ll sit out the final seven days before his retirement becomes official. Martinez says he wanted to make sure his final at-bat took place in Detroit.

The Milwaukee Brewers slugged three home runs in the sixth inning, and defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 8-3 last night. Travis Shaw, Mike Moustakas and Erik Kratz went deep shortly after the game resumed following a more than two-hour rain delay. Keon Broxton also homered for the Crew.

The Brewers continue that series at Pittsburgh tonight. Zach Davies will pitch against Trevor Williams.

Milwaukee reliever Josh Hader struck out the first three batters he faced in last night’s game, then gave up a fly ball out. That snapped Hader’s string of consecutive strikeout at 16, a modern-day record. It also gave him 136 strikeouts this season, breaking the all-time record for a left-handed reliever previously held by former Tiger John Hiller.

The Cubs lost, and the Cardinals won. The Brewers now trail Chicago by just a game-and-a-half in the National League Central Division, and still lead Saint Louis by three games in the race for the top wild card playoff berth.

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings will host the Boston Bruins in exhibition play tonight. Listen for regular-season Red Wings games this season on 99.3 The Lift.

Detroit defenseman Mike Green may miss the start of the season because of a virus that’s attacking his liver. Team officials say they don’t yet know how serious the infection is, and tests are continuing.

NFL
The Green Bay Packers play at Washington in a 1:00 game tomorrow. The Detroit Lions host the New England Patriots in the Sunday night game. Hear the broadcast on 99.3 The Lift.
