MLB

The Tigers have confirmed that A.J. Hinch will be their next manager. Hinch led the Astros to a World Series title in 2017. He was fired as part of the team’s purge following the sign-stealing scandal that year. Yesterday, he again apologized for his role in the scheme. Hinch was a catcher for the Tigers in 2003. It’s a three-year deal to replace Ron Gardenhire, who retired near the end of last season.

The Brewers have declined the 2021 options on infielders Jedd Gyorko and Eric Sogard, and outfielder Ben Gamel.

Gyorko and Sogard become free agents. Brewers’ general manager David Stearns did not rule out the possibility of either or both returning.

Gamel will now be eligible for salary arbitration.

NFL

Tomorrow, the Lions host the Colts in a 1:00 game on 99.3 The Lift.

The Packers entertain the Vikings in a 1:00 contest.

In the Sunday night game, the Cowboys take on the Eagles. On Monday night, the Buccaneers face the Giants. Hear both broadcasts on 99.3 The Lift.

Packers Hall-of-Fame cornerback Herb Adderley has died. Adderly was a star running back at Michigan State, but was moved to defense by Green Bay coach Vince Lombardi. He won five NFL titles with the Packers, and another with the Cowboys. No cause of death has been released. Herb Adderly was 81.
