MLB – Tigers Return Tonight, Brewers Lose
The Detroit Tigers had yesterday off, and host the Kansas City Royals tonight. Justin Verlander will start against Johnny Cueto. Hear the first pitch at 7:08 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

The Tigers have confirmed that Anibal Sanchez will not pitch again this season. However, an examination of his sore rotator cuff indicated no structural damage, and no need for surgery.

The Milwaukee Brewers lost to the Saint Louis Cardinals 6-3 last night. Starter Jimmy Nelson was charged with four early runs. He left the game in the third inning after being hit in the head by a line drive. He’s bruised, but otherwise okay. Milwaukee didn’t score until Jean Segura hit a three-run homer with two outs in the ninth inning. Game details are here.

The Brewers open a home set against the Cincinnati Reds tonight. Zach Davies will pitch against Brandon Finnegan.

The Tech Cross Country team runs at the Spartan Invitational in East Lansing today.

The MTU men’s tennis team plays at the ITA Regional in Grand Rapids this weekend. The women’s tennis team plays at Northwood tomorrow afternoon, and at Saginaw Valley State Sunday morning.

The Northern Michigan University football team hosts Hillsdale for Homecoming tomorrow afternoon.

The Finlandia volleyball team is in Ann Arbor for matches against Concordia University, Rochester College and Marygrove College today. They’ll travel to Grand Rapids to take on Grace Bible College, and Moody Bible Institute tomorrow.

The Finlandia women’s soccer team hosts Grace Bible College tomorrow at 1:00. Both soccer teams entertain Robert Morris-Lake County on Sunday.

In last night’s NFL game, the Broncos scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter, and beat the Chiefs 31-24.

The Detroit Lions play at Minnesota on Sunday. Kickoff is at 1:00.
