High School
In high school hockey last night…
• Calumet defeated Hancock 4-2 in game one of the Copper Island Classic. Dan Loukus had two goals and an assist for the Copper Kings. Eric Loukus and Donnie Nicely also found the net. Dominick Pizzi and Bennett Sturos scored for the Bulldogs. Aksel Loukus made 33 saves to earn the win in net for Calumet. Dan Wroblewski made 16 saves for the Bulldogs.
Because of the weather, tonight’s second game of the total-goals series has been postponed to Tuesday, January 3rd at the Colosseum, with coverage beginning at 6:40 on the Voice of the Copper Kings, KBear 102.3.
In girls basketball last night…
• Lake Linden-Hubbell shut down Chassell 50-19.
College Basketball
The Finlandia men’s team lost 106-57 at Olivet College yesterday. Danny Zuchak led the Lions with 22 points, and John Schutz added 12.
GLHL
The Portage Lake Pioneers visit the Calumet Wolverines tonight at 7:30 at the Colosseum. UPDATE – THIS GAME HAS BEEN POSTPONED – a makeup date will be announced later.
NHL
The Wings’ game at Ottawa tonight has been postponed to February 27th because of the severe weather.
NBA
The Pistons visit the Hawks tonight.
NFL
In last night’s NFL game, the Jaguars stifled the Jets 19-3.
