Jordan Zimmermann earned his first win of the season, as the Detroit Tigers defeated the Los Angeles Angels 7-2 last night. Zimmermann gave up two runs on four hits before leaving in the sixth inning. Miguel Cabrera and Jordy Mercer homered. Cabrera also singled home two of the three runs Detroit scored in the eighth inning to break the game open.

Christin Stewart left last night’s game after crashing into the left field wall. His status is not known.
Heralded catching prospect Jake Rogers is on his way to Detroit. Rogers is expected to join the club in time for tonight’s game. Catcher Bobby Wilson was placed on waivers Saturday. Other teams have until 1:00 this afternoon to claim him. If none does, he can accept an assignment to Toledo, or become a free agent.
The Milwaukee Brewers had yesterday off, and begin an interleague set in Oakland tonight. Adrian Houser will start against Chris Bassitt.
The Brewers have brought back pitcher Jordan Lyles. Lyles finished last season in the Milwaukee bullpen, after he was signed as a free agent. This year, he signed with the Pirates, starting strong, but struggling recently. He’ll help fill out the Crew’s injury-riddled starting rotation. In return, Pittsburgh gets pitching prospect Cody Ponce.
