• Calumet concluded its regular season with a 2-0 victory over Kingsford.

• Houghton wraps up its regular campaign at Marquette.

In high school boys basketball last night…
• Calumet fell to Westwood 54-34
• Dollar Bay-Tamarack City defeated Baraga 53-40.
• Jeffers raced past Chassell 75-39. Landon Larson led the Jets with 17 points, Matthew Schutz added 16, and Lincoln Just chipped in 13. Eli Danison paced the Panthers with 18 points.
• Ewen-Trout Creek slipped past Ontonagon 45-43.

In girls action last night…
• Houghton downed Marquette 56-42. Jacey Sleeman scored 17 for the Gremlins, Eva Gerard added 11, and Roman Trevino-Peterlin scored 10.
• Calumet shaded West Iron County 46-44
• Lake Linden-Hubbell squeaked past Hancock 42-40.
• Baraga shut down Dollar Bay-Tamarack City 66-27.
• Jeffers got past Chassell 37-23.
• Ewen-Trout Creek defeated Ontonagon 56-33.

On the boys schedule tonight…
• Houghton welcomes Bessemer.
• Calumet entertains Gwinn.
• Hancock journeys to Iron Mountain.

The Houghton swim team competes at the U.P. championships this weekend at Marquette, with the diving today, and the swim events tomorrow.

The Calumet and L’Anse bowling teams will compete at the U.P. tournament tomorrow at Superior Entertainment in Marquette.

College Basketball

Both Michigan Tech basketball teams host Northern Michigan tomorrow. The women’s game starts at 1:00, and the men’s game at 3:00.

College Hockey

Both the Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan hockey teams have the weekend off.

GLHL

The Portage Lake Pioneers visit the Fox Cities Ice Dogs tonight, and the De Pere Deacons tomorrow.

The Calumet Wolverines skate at De Pere tonight, and Fox Cities tomorrow.

Adult Hockey

The L’Anse Winter Classic Old-Timer’s Hockey Tournament will be held at Meadowbrook Arena in L’Anse tomorrow and Sunday. The event is a major fundraiser to support operations of the Meadowbrook and Baraga rinks. The public is welcome. For details and the weekend schedule, click here. The playing schedule could be affected by this weekend’s planned power outage in the area.

NHL

The Red Wings lost 4-1 to the Canucks last night. J.T. Compher scored Detroit’s only goal, and Alex Lyon stopped 17 of 21 shots.

The Wings visit the Flames tomorrow. Coverage will start at 3:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

NBA

The Pistons are off for the all star break, and return to action at Indiana Thursday.

Pigs-N-Heat

The annual Pigs-N-Heat hockey game between local firefighters and police officers will be held tonight at the John MacInnes Student Ice Arena. Along with the game, there will be many fun activities and prize giveaways, including a 50/50, Chuck A Puck, and a Gun Raffle. Proceeds support the Pigs-N-Heat Fund, which assists victims of crime and fire in the Copper Country. Doors open at 6:00, and the game begins at 7:00. Tickets will be available at the door.
