High School

In high school girls basketball last night…
– Calumet shut down Houghton 68-35. Jana Loukus led the Copper Kings with 26 points. Maryellen Trewhella scored 13 for the Gremlins.
– Hancock lost to West Iron County 50-42. D’Andra Kero led the Bulldogs with 11 points.
– Lake Linden-Hubbell defeated Republic-Michigamme 49-30.
Megan Corrigan scored 21 for the Lakes.
– Dollar Bay-Tamarack City edged Watersmeet 39-38.
– Chassell got past Jeffers 35-31.
– Baraga lost to Ewen-Trout Creek 46-42.

On the girls schedule tonight…
– L’Anse entertains Wakefield-Marenisco – will be played as scheduled.
– Ewen-Trout Creek hosts Bessemer.

– Calumet skates at Houghton.

Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference

Michigan Tech forward Kyle Monroe has been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference North Division Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the sixth time this season. Monroe broke the career scoring record at Michigan Tech during the Huskies’ win over Lake Superior State on Saturday.

Finlandia University

The Finlandia University men’s basketball team lost 93-49 to Rochester College last night. No Lion reached double figures in scoring. The men wrap up their season at Great Lakes Christian College near Lansing tonight.

Hancock standout Taylor Sebbas has committed to play for the Finlandia women’s basketball team next season. Sebbas is a two-time All-WestPAC Copper Division first team selection.

NHL

The Detroit Red Wings host the Montreal Canadiens this evening. Coverage begins at 7:10 on 99.3 The Lift.

NBA

The Detroit Pistons return to action Thursday, when they host the Milwaukee Bucks. Coverage begins at 6:35 on 99.3 The Lift.
