MLB
Shane Greene gave up a three-run homer in the ninth inning, as the Detroit Tigers fell to the Cleveland Indians 4-1 last night. Most of the evening was devoted to a pitching duel between the starters. Detroit’s Michael Fulmer gave up a run on five hits over seven innings. Cleveland’s Trevor Bauer allowed a run in the first inning, then held the Tigers at bay through the eighth, striking out a dozen.

The Tigers host the Indians again this afternoon. Mike Fiers will pitch against Mike Clevinger. Pregame coverage will begin at 3:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Milwaukee Brewers walloped the Philadelphia Phillies 12-4 last night. The Crew scored early – three runs in the first, two in the second, and six in a big fourth inning. Ryan Braun homered twice, and Christian Yelich hit one out. Jhoulys Chacín gave up a run over six innings. He tired in the seventh, and was charged with all four Philly runs.

The Brewers continue that series at Philadelphia this afternoon. Brent Suter will start against Jake Arrieta.

NBA
The Golden State Warriors won their second straight NBA title last night, sweeping the championship series with a dominating 108-85 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers. Kevin Durant was named the series’ Most Valuable Player.

After last night’s contest, Cleveland star LeBron James admitted that he played the final three games of the series with a seriously injured hand. James said the damage occurred when he punched a whiteboard out of frustration in the team locker room minutes after their opening game loss.

Fishing
The Ontonagon Kids Fishing Derby will be held today. There are lots of prizes, and fun activities for the kids beginning at 10:00 at the Ontonagon Marina.

The Rice Lake Fishing Tournament will be held tomorrow. Registration begins at 7:00 at the Lake Linden-Hubbell Sportsmen’s Association clubhouse.
