Miguel Cabrera’s pinch-hit single in the bottom of the 11th inning drove home Spencer Torkelson with the winning run, as the Tigers edged the Giants 7-6 Saturday. Detroit spotted San Francisco a 6-1 lead after three innings, as Michael Lorenzen struggled in his first start of the season. The Tigers roared back with two in the fifth, then tied the game with three in the eighth inning – two on a double by Javier Báez.
The Tigers host the Giants again this afternoon. Matthew Boyd will start against Logan Webb. Coverage will begin at 12:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
The Tigers made room for Lorenzen by sending infielder Ryan Kreidler to Toledo. They also brought up lefty Tyler Holton, and sent down righty Garrett Hill.
The Brewers lost to the Padres 10-3. Freddy Peralta gave up five runs over five innings, and took the loss.
The Brewers visit the Padres again this afternoon. Wade Miley will start against Yu Darvish.
Milwaukee will be without starter Brandon Woodruff indefinitely. The shoulder injury that sent him to the disabled list has been diagnosed as a sprain. Doctors say he won’t need surgery, but will miss more than the two weeks originally anticipated.
