High School

In girls basketball last evening…
• The Houghton game at West Iron County was postponed. No make-up date has been announced.
• Jeffers lost to Ewen-Trout Creek 62-40.
• Lake Linden-Hubbell overpowered Bessemer 75-38. Cleo Milkey led all scorers with 27 points.

In the boys action last night…
• Alex Pietila’s three-pointer at the buzzer lifted Hancock to a 45-43 win over Calumet. Pietila led the Bulldogs with 13 points. Tyler Black, Brayden Nelson and Sincere Brooks each totaled nine for the Copper Kings.
• Dollar Bay-Tamarack City lost at Ironwood 53-46.
• The Baraga game at Ontonagon was postponed, and will be made up as part of a doubleheader tonight.
• Jeffers overpowered Ewen-Trout Creek 84-36. Five Jets reached double figures, led by Ashton Kunishige with 22 points. Brett Stevens added 17, and Tavin Larson 16. Caden Bessonen and Christian Bessonen each had 11 for the Panthers.
• Lake Linden-Hubbell got past Bessemer 38-33. Gabe Popko scored 14 for the Lakes.

The 14th-ranked Michigan Tech hockey team skates at Ferris State tonight and tomorrow.

The Northern Michigan hockey team visits Bemidji State tonight and tomorrow night.

The Finlandia men’s hockey team welcomes Lawrence University tonight at 7:15 and tomorrow at 4:00.

The Finlandia women’s hockey team skates at Adrian tonight and tomorrow.

College Basketball

The Michigan Tech basketball teams split their games against Davenport University last evening.
• Alex Rondorf had 21 points and 11 rebounds, as the women’s team claimed a 76-58 victory.
• The men’s team fell 90-77. Dan Gherezgher led the Huskies with 21, and Marcus Tomashek and Nate Abel each added 20.

Both Tech teams entertain Grand Valley State tomorrow afternoon.

Both Northern teams lost to Grand Valley State – the women 45-38, and the men 82-77.

Both NMU teams welcome Davenport tomorrow.

The Finlandia University women’s basketball team hosts Maranatha Baptist tonight at 5:30, and Mount Mary tomorrow at noon.

The Finlandia men’s team has the weekend off.

College Skiing

Michigan Tech Nordic skier Adam Witkowski is in Livigno, Italy, for the FIS World Cup competition this weekend. Witkowski is one of four Americans who qualified, and is the current student-athlete from Tech to compete at the World Cup.

GLHL

The Calumet Wolverines visit the Marquette Mutineers tomorrow night.

The Portage Lake Pioneers have the weekend off.

NHL

The Red Wings edged the Golden Knights 3-2 last night. Lucas Raymond, Dominik Kubalik and Joe Veleno scored. Ville Husso made 33 saves.

The Wings host the Flyers tomorrow evening. Because of NFL football, coverage will begin at 6:45 hockey on KBear 102.3.

NBA

The Pistons fell behind early, and lost to the Bulls 126-108 in Paris yesterday. Bojan Bogdanovic scored 25 for Detroit.

The Pistons host the Bucks Monday night. Coverage will begin at 6:35 on 99.3 The Lift.

Divisional playoff games will be played this weekend.
