In high school hockey last night…
– Jeffers defeated Negaunee 8-5.

In boys high school basketball last night…
– Houghton defeated West Iron County 55-42. George Butvilas scored 20 for the Gremlins.
– Hancock got past Jeffers 60-52. Chad Raasio had 17 points for the Bulldogs.
– Lake Linden-Hubbell lost to Ontonagon 59-49. Mitch Borseth scored 23 points for the Gladiators. Lincoln Klein of the Lakes led all scorers with 28 points.
– Dollar Bay-Tamarack City edged Republic-Michigamme 70-64. Devin Schmitz paced the Blue Bolts with 21 points.
– Baraga fell Bessemer 70-26.

In tonight’s only boys game, Dollar Bay-Tamarack City welcomes Wakefield-Marenisco.

Former NMU goalie Jared Coreau earned his second NHL shutout yesterday, as the Detroit Red Wings blanked the Montreal Canadiens 1-0. Coreau stopped 18 shots. Thomas Vanek scored the only goal of the game for Detroit. The Wings entertain the Bruins tomorrow night. Our pregame coverage will begin around 7:30 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

NBA
The Detroit Pistons will host the Atlanta Hawks tomorrow night.

The NFL Conference Championships will be decided Sunday. The Packers face the Falcons in the NFC title game at 3:05. The Patriots take on the Steelers in the AFC title match at 6:40. Pregame coverage will begin at 2:00 on the voice of the NFL playoffs in the Copper Country, AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.
