MLB – Tigers Fall to Red Sox
The Boston Red Sox broke open a tight game with four runs in the eighth inning, and beat the Detroit Tigers 7-2 yesterday. Justin Verlander kept the Tigers close… giving up just four hits before leaving after six innings with Detroit trailing 2-1. Both runs were unearned, but he took the loss. Tom Gorzelanny gave up a solo home run in the seventh, and the four runs in the eighth inning came off Ian Kroll. Jefry Marte homered for Detroit.

The Tigers visit the division-leading Royals tonight. Matt Boyd will start against Johnny Cueto. Hear the first pitch at 8:10 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.

Khris Davis hit two homers and all five Milwaukee runs, as the Brewers edged the Saint Louis Cardinals 5-4 yesterday. Davis’ second shot – a two-run blast – brought Milwaukee from behind in the eighth inning, and made a winner of Will Smith. Francisco Rodriguez pitched a perfect ninth to earn his 26th save.

The Brewers have today off, and open a series against the Cubs in Chicago tomorrow night. Taylor Jungmann will pitch against Dan Haren.
