Bulldogs Mercy Jets – Tuesday Sports Wrap

High School
In high school hockey last night, Hancock shut out Jeffers 8-0 in a game that ended after two periods because of the mercy rule. Colton Salani and Trevor Tchida each scored twice for the Bulldogs. Alex Nordstrom, Tyler Turcotte, Austin Salani, and Michael Stuber each scored once.

On the hockey schedule tonight, Calumet plays at Houghton.

In boys high school basketball last evening…
– Houghton lost at West Iron County 60-42.
– Jeffers got past Hancock 35-32.
– Calumet defeated Ontonagon 52-38. Matt Ojala scored 30 for the Copper Kings. Ed Polakowski led the Gladiators with 14.
– Lake Linden-Hubbell fell to Republic-Michigamme 55-44.
– L’Anse downed Baraga 61-36.
– Ewen-Trout Creek remained unbeaten with a 47-39 victory over Wakefield-Marenisco. Jake Witt had 27 points, 18 rebounds, and six blocks.

In boys action tonight…
– Baraga plays at Calumet. Pregame coverage will begin around 7:00 on KBear 102.3 and KBear102.com.

In girls basketball last evening, Hancock defeated Bessemer 42-31 in a game that was rescheduled from December 5th.

In girls hoops tonight…
– Lake Linden-Hubbell plays at Baraga.
– Jeffers journeys to Bessemer.
– Chassell welcomes Ontonagon.
– Houghton hosts L’Anse in a makeup from December 5th.

MTU
The Michigan Tech men’s basketball team plays at Winona State tonight.

Huskies goaltender Robbie Beydoun has been named Rookie of the Week by the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. Beydoun earned his first career shutout, as Tech skated to a win and a tie against Lake Superior State last weekend.

NMU
Both Northern Michigan University basketball teams play at Minnesota-Duluth this evening.

NBA
The Detroit Pistons face the Mavericks in Dallas tomorrow evening.

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings visit the New York Islanders tonight. Coverage begins at 6:40 on 99.3 The Lift.

NFL
In last night’s NFL game, the Atlanta Falcons edged the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 24-21. The victory by Atlanta eliminated the Green Bay Packers from playoff contention.
