Michigan Tech’s Kyle Monroe has again been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference North Division Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. The Northern Michigan University hockey team is ranked 19th this week in the USCHO.com national poll. The Wildcats swept Alaska-Anchorage, and are in first place in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association standings.

NBA
The Detroit Pistons have shaken up their lineup by trading for five-time all-star forward Blake Griffin from the Los Angeles Clippers. Griffin is 28 years old, and in the first year of a five-season, 171-million dollar contract. He’s averaging 22 points and eight rebounds per game this season – in line with his eight-year career averages. Detroit also gets seldom-used forward Brice Johnson, and lightly-used center Willie Reed. In return, the Clippers get Detroit’s leading scorer, Tobias Harris. Detroit also gives up Avery Bradley, Boban Marjanović and a first- and second-round draft pick. Harris and Marjanović each have one year remaining on their contracts. Bradley will be a free agent at the end of this season.

The new-look Pistons will try to break their eight-game losing streak when they host the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight. Tip-off is at 8:00 on 99.3 The Lift.

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings return to action tomorrow at home against the San Jose Sharks. Pregame coverage will begin at 7:40 on 99.3 The Lift.

MLB
The makeover of the Milwaukee Brewers continues. The Crew has reportedly agreed to a two-year, five-million dollar deal with free agent reliever Matt Albers. A physical is pending. Albers is coming off the best season of his 12-year major league career, going 7-2 with a 1.62 ERA in 63 games for the Nationals.

Our Finlandia University athletics coverage continues Saturday, when the men’s hockey team entertains Saint Scholastica. Our broadcast will begin at 6:40 on 99.3 The Lift and TheLift.com.
