MLB

The Tigers’ late-season surge continued last night, with a 4-2 victory over the Royals. Tarik Skubal gave up a run over five innings, and struck out seven. Riley Greene homered.

The Twins lost to the Guardians, so Detroit is now just a half-game behind Minnesota in the race for the final American League wild card playoff berth… and a game-and-a-half behind Kansas City, which currently holds the second wild card position.

The Tigers have tonight off, and begin a series in Baltimore tomorrow. Coverage will begin at 6:40 on 99-3 The Lift.

Colt Keith missed last night’s game after hurting his shoulder diving for a ground ball Tuesday. The injury is not believed to be serious, and he could return to the lineup tomorrow.

Jake Bauers’ bases-loaded single in the bottom of the ninth sent Jackson Chourio home with the winning run, as the Brewers shaded the Phillies 2-1. Freddy Peralta gave up a run over five innings, and struck out nine.

Earlier yesterday, the Cubs lost to the Athletics, giving the National League Central Division title to Milwaukee. It’s their second straight division crown, and fourth in the last seven seasons.

The Brewers open a home set against the Diamondbacks tonight. Tobias Myers will pitch against Brandon Pfaadt.

NFL

In tonight’s NFL contest, the Patriots visit the Jets. Kickoff is at 8:15 on 99.3 The Lift.

Green Bay quarterback Jordan Love practiced with the team yesterday, although his participation was limited. He wore a brace on the knee he hurt in the season-opening loss to the Eagles. There’s a chance he could be ready for this week’s contest against the Titans.

NHL

The Red Wings open training camp in Traverse City today. Moritz Seider will be missing – he and the team have yet to agree on a new contract. Veteran Alex Chiasson will be there. He played for Detroit two seasons ago, but sat out last year after being cut in training camp by the Bruins. The Wings have offered him a tryout. Detroit’s first preseason game will be Thursday at Chicago. Listen for regular-season games again this season on 99.3 The Lift.
