NBA

The injury bug has bitten the Pistons already. The team released their training camp roster yesterday afternoon, with a note that Isaiah Livers is out with a high ankle strain. With a typical recovery time of four-to-six weeks, he’ll miss the start of the regular season.

MLB

The baseball playoffs open tonight. The two division winners in each league with the best records have opening-round byes – that’s the Orioles and the Astros in the American League, and the Braves and the Dodgers in the National League . The rest will compete in best-of-three play-in series.

In the National League…
• The Brewers have the worst record among division winners, and will host the lowest-ranked wild card team, the Diamondbacks.
• The top-ranked wild card team, the Phillies, will entertain the second-ranked wild card team, the Marlins.

In the American League…
• The Twins have the worst record among division winners, and will host the lowest-ranked wild card team, the Blue Jays.
• The top-ranked wild card team, the Rays, will entertain the second-ranked wild card team, the Rangers.

Milwaukee heads into the postseason without starting pitcher Brandon Woodruff. Woodruff has been diagnosed with a right shoulder injury. He’s getting medical opinions, and Manager Craig Counsell says he’ll certainly miss the wild card series, and potentially the entire playoffs.

To the surprise of no one, former Brewers president of baseball operations David Stearns has been introduced as the new president of baseball operations of the New York Mets.

NFL

In last night’s NFL game, the Seahawks shut down the Giants 24-3.
