Brewers Fall – Tuesday Sports Wrap

MLB

The Detroit Tigers had yesterday off, and open a home set against the Cleveland Indians this afternoon. Jordan Zimmermann will start against Corey Kluber. Pregame coverage will begin at 12:50 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Milwaukee Brewers lost 5-2 to the Los Angeles Angels last night. Jhoulys Chacín pitched into the seventh and gave up just three runs, but took the loss. Mike Moustakas hit his 150th career home run.

The Brewers continue that interleague series against the Angels tonight. Freddy Peralta will pitch against Matt Harvey.

NBA

The Detroit Pistons host the Memphis Grizzlies tonight. Detroit needs to win its final two games to guarantee a playoff berth. After yesterday’s practice, coach Dwayne Casey said Blake Griffin’s sore knee was feeling better. Pregame coverage begins at 6:35 on 99.3 The Lift.

Finlandia

The Finlandia University softball team will play a doubleheader at the University of Chicago today. That game was originally scheduled for tomorrow, but was moved up because of snow in the forecast.

MTU

Former Calumet High School basketball standout Matt Ojala has signed a letter of intent to play college hoops at Michigan Tech. Ojala averaged nearly 20 points per game in his high school career, and holds the Copper Kings’ all-time career scoring record.

NCAA Basketball

The University of Virginia won the NCAA Division One men’s basketball title last night, with an 85-77 overtime victory over Texas Tech. De’Andre Hunter led the Cavaliers with a career-best 27 points, and hit a three-pointer with 12 second remaining to tie the game and force the extra period.
